Hoda's Year Reflection
My Year In Grade 5... I had a great year In Grade 5, I had so much fun and I learned so many new things from this amazing to experience. I can't believe this will be my last year in Elementary school, But I'm so excited for middle school. Grade 5 was great. There were so many amazing times and so many bad times but after all, we learn from our mistakes and do better next time. I really did have so much fun, socially, and academiclly. I really will miss being in Grade 5, with all the amazing teachers and class mates etc. etc.
Responses To Parent Questions***
1. "Which area do you think you still need to improve?"
• I think I still need to improve in Reading because I feel like I can read for a longer amount of time at home and that would make me a better and a stronger reader. Also, I feel like I could do better In reading If I just read for 10 extra minutes a day.
2. "Do you feel confident about your math skills?"
• Yes, I do feel confident in my math skills, I just feel like I shouldn't depend on something to be good in math, because I know I can do It and I actually can do it. All I need is to be more independent considering math.
3. "On a social level, how do you feel you developed than any other year?"
• This year, I feel like I can work better with students that are not my close friends and cooperate and stay focused without distractions or anything. I also feel like I have made more friends this year then any other year and I feel strong and comfortable working with other class mates.
Reading- At the beginning of the year, I would usually read for 25 minutes a day and jot very few times, Now I can read about 40 minutes a day and jot every five pages. I feel like throughout the year I learned so many new things about READING in general and I enjoy reading books. I realized that reading is the foundation to most things in life. Not only in school.
Writing- Writing was always my favorite. I always enjoy just writing about anything, really! I have learned so many new techniques about how I can write in a informative entertaining way. I think I have improved a lot throughout Grade 5, Now I Know how to make my writing pieces fun and interesting to read!
Math- Math was never my favorite, I never really liked math. But I have to admit I have learned MANY things about math In grade 5 and I learned that math actually is not so bad. I learned things in math that also apply to my non-educational life. There are many life lessons that I have learned from math, and I am happy I learned them! Math is a very Fun Subject.
Science- I always liked science, it has been one of my favorite subjects in school In Grade 5. I always liked doing experiments and writing about them, but this year it was different then just that. We got to make projects with a partner and present them in a science fair and we had so many fun activities that we have done in class, I just loved it Overall. I have learned many new things about Science. Now I know It's not just about doing experiments and getting a good grade in the end, But it's about having fun and learning about the experiments. I can't wait for science in Middle school!
Social Studies- Social studies was never really one of my favorites but I didn't mind it either. I learned a whole lot about social studies this year. All the topics and units we had learned about were interesting and Fun. I really enjoyed Social Studies in Grade 5 because We got to learn about Social studies OVERALL! One thing I think I improved on in Social Studies this year is elaborating on what I have learned. In fact, I think I have improved on "elaborating" in all the subjects. Especially writing. I also think now I can describe things better and in a more advanced way then In the beginning of the year.
Citizenship- CORE VALUES- Core values have helped me a lot in Grade 5. I really learned a lot from Perseverance and Courage. They Both taught me how to try my hardest and to stand up in what I believe in. They truly helped me in Grade 5. I think Core values are really helpful in CAC. I learned a lot from both of them. They are really important essentials in not only educational life, but social life and personal life aswell.
Most Challenging- Math is the most challenging for me. But I have to admit I have learned a lot in math. Math taught me most of the things I need to be successful in life. I never really liked Math.
Most enjoyable- Writing is my favorite subject of all subjects in school. I just love how you can just sit and write and write. It is just amazing! There are so many different units that involve researching and just using your head etc. I will always love writing as my favorite subject to learn about. It is amazing and so fun! I can't wait for Writing/language Arts in Middle school, I love researching etc. and going through the whole proccess of making an article or story.
Most proud of- The most thing I am proud of In Grade 5 is Science. I really think That I have really improved in Science this year. Science is one of my favorite subjects. I liked all the projects that we have done. I am most proud of my science blog. The unit was Erosion. I like to explain and describe exactly what I am trying to say through the computer. I am most proud of the way I finished all my posts that were assigned to me.
Most growth- In Grade 5, Writing is the subject that I think I most improved in. I think in writing this year I have improved a lot in all ways. In Grade 5 I have learned many new things about writing in general. One thing I know for sure is that you should never forget to include PUNCTUATION in any piece you are writing. I think writing is the best and It is the foundation to live a good life style. Imagine writing a list to buy groceries. You have to know how to write for that and that is one of the simpilest situations in life. Imagine more sufistakated things!

4 corner activity reflection
During this activity, many things suprised me. Especially when people disagreed with my opinion. But later when We had a mini debate, I wasnt as suprised because I had listened to what they thought and why. And some times I wasnt really suprised with other people's opinion.
For example, when Mrs.kasal said "climate change is caused by people" I knew exactly where to go out of the four corners. But then when I heard what other people thought, My changing completely changed.

I learned alot during the activity we did yesterday. I communicate with different perspectives by understanding there thinking then trying to argue with it.

FINAL REFLECTIONS
Throughout this unit, I have learned a lot about Erosion. Now I know all about it! At the beginning of this unit, I had no idea what Erosion even was. Now I have learned beyond the basics. I am so glad that I learned about Erosion because
ESSENTIAL QUESTION: 1. Why does our Earth's surface look the way it does?
ANSWER:1. The earth's surface looks the way it does because of EROSION, water and rocks and also just landforms, earthquakes, tsunami's and basically all NATURAL Disasters! In this unit, I learned a lot about how erosion is caused, and how it is caused and what makes it the way it is. I have always wondered how earthquakes happened and just what makes an earthquake and every other natural disaster, a BIG DISASTER!! Now... I KNOW... YAYAYYAYAAY :) I have learned about deppsosition aswell. Especially in our Wadi field trip! I know that the Wadi was a big ocean full of sea animals. We saw some fossels aswell in the wadi. They were about one-million years old! It was amazing to learn what happens to animals when they dry out or get depposited. The fossel I saw was all dried up and stiff as if someone super glued it to sand. It was a weird shape which was unique. We learned that fossels look the way they do because they were under water and today they are not.
Anyway, I learned alot about that. I learned that water is more powerful than air aswell which helped my understanding alot especially in the experiment where we used the straw and wind blaster. It was one of my favorite science units! I learned alot. Not only education related but a life lesson. Now when i walk around I know what it is made from.

COOL CAREERS
- • environmental consultant- Environmental consulting is when a consultant makes sure that a client maintains the earth's greens and nature well, (environmental regulations) This is important because if humans were just throwing trash and polluting the earth continuously, then oxygen would transform into something bad for humans to breathe and humans breathe 24/7 and then that would lead to cause humans to die and then later on in the future the earth would have a small population etc.I think this is important because nature is one of the essentials that humans need. I know this might sound weird, but for example, Tree's are very important because they give the world fresh air and oxygen to breathe.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT- groundwater specialist- Groundwater Protection Specialists inspect and analyze the health of local groundwater resources. They then devise innovative strategies and implement solutions to help prevent, reduce, or eliminate pollutants that may be contaminating the groundwater supply. This is important because, first of all, we all know that water is basically the most important thing that all humans need to consume to survive, and groundwater specialist's make sure the water that humans drink is clean and healthy. I think this is important because, if we had no groundwater specialist's then all the water that human's drink wouldn't be very clean and if water is not very clean then human's have the chance of catching a cold or getting sick. that's not very good.
GROUNDWATER SPECIALIST- marine engineer- A marine engineer is someone who designs, builds, tests and repairs ships, boats, underwater craft, offshore platforms, and drilling equipment. They often work closely with naval architects to design everything from small yachts and fishing boats to submarines and aircraft carriers. This is important because underwater crafts are a very important thing in the world. For example, if marine engineers didn't exist then people would struggle to get fish or to carry things that they need to underwater.
