APL quote

" Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." -Desmond Tutu

In my opinion, I think this Quote means that you should not just speak/talk, you're words should include a powerful message/meaning that is important. I think this because, In the quote it mentions, "don't raise your voice" and to ME, that little part of words means you should not just say something that is non-scense, or that has no meaning what so ever, you should say something that is strong and has a very important message, that people need to be informed about etc. I think this is a good quote because it makes people thinking, and it really influences me to change my actions. It would also most probably influence others too, to start thinking before they say something. For example, Whatever you/someone said could hurt someones feelings or make them feel bad. Or maybe it could make someone happy. Thats why you need to think before you speak. I am wondering if this quote also means something else that I am not noticing. yelling is agrivating others to do more.

experiment two: deposition

question: what happens to the land when it gets eroded?

Hypothesis: I think the sand will create a little area when the water combines into it.

materials: bucket, ruler, sand,cup with small whole, tray,thingy that holds tray to make it stable

procedere:Put sand and hard sand and clay in the bucket with pipes. Mix the sand and clay.

make sand 20 cm in the length is the side without the hole. Take the wooden wedge and put it under the sand side. Put the ruler under the bucket in the sand side. Pour water and wait for it t o happen!

Observation: 

the fisrt few seconds, water is creating a whole, (whirl) then at about one minute, a stream started then one minute and 15 seconds, sand started getting damp and soft. one minute 30 seconds a valley starts to form. at 2 minutes sand makes 2 paths for water. at 3 minutes 30 seconds all water has been poured. at 4 minutes sand starts to get hard and starts drying.

conclusion:  when we watched the water going through the sand, I noticed that the whole has a big effect and the size of the materials aswell.

Title:  Water Erosion Experiment #1         

Hypothesis: I think the sand will Take over the water, and probably make a tornado or something simillar when the water is being dropped in the sand.

Materials: Fine sand, Clay, Water, ruler, Tray, bucket, Computer. 

Procedeure: 1. Put sand sand on one side
                      2. make sure its 20 cm long
                      3. Put ruler and cup with small whole on top of tray
                      4. Pour 4 cups of water slowly into the cup with small whole
                      5. observe what happens later

Observation: We observed that, Whenever A certain amount of water was poured into it.  At around 40 seconds, The sand was slowly getting damp and it was slowly making a tornado, While the water was being poured. This is standard. I thought it was very interesting how the water made a big effect on the sand, I wouldve never thought that this was even possible. I really learned alot during this experiment and now I know what happens to land when water comes.

Conclusion: The sand made a small whole whenever Water was poured into it. It also made a path whenever the water was going in.

Essential Question

Why does our Earth's surface look the way it does? I think the earth's surface looks the way it does because of Erosion, water and sand. I think that because the earth is mainly feauturing these three objects. Also the earth cannot be "EARTH" Without these three things. Earth needs them, those are the things we that make earth EARTH. There is also Erotion that is very important in the earth. There are four types of Erosion witch are: Water erosion, sand erosion, chemical erosion, and Glassier Erosion. They are all very important in earth.  They are each different from Each other in different ways. There is also earthquakes, landslides, and erruptions that could possibly happen.

Hoda's science 5K

This year, so far my favorite unit in science is the animal and plant adaptations. I really enjoyed that unit because My partner and I got to create a project and Demo. I really enjoyed searching for information and making it into my OWN words. i also enjoyed Making a visual poster. It was lots of fun using teamwork:) Some strengths i have in science are; Colabarateing with a group/partnership. And another one is; researching for information and making it into my own words, also, i am good at helping create a project. I think science is important because Science can help you in your future. Who knows, maybe you want to be a scientist when you grow up!! Or maybe you would just like to learn alot about science during freetime.
